Hello again for another installment of the Art Challenge Projects.
We took a break for a couple weeks in June for a family camping trip. It did inspire this week’s project that portraits a small lake in a park. The scene is of a bright, summer day and the mood is much more vibrant and optimistic than many of our previous projects.
For the music, I wanted something to be brighter than previous tracks and have a lighter tone. As I’ve been listening to some music from one of the Legend of Zelda games, I was inspired by a sound similar to the theme for a village of bird-people, which was a light-hearted piece with moving strings in a waltz-like meter. In the first half of my piece, the music goes back and forth between lush string parts and a light, dance-like feel. Then the music transitions into a more ambient sound for the completion.
As I worked on this piece, I envisioned the two different sections as different states of someone at the lake in the summer. The first is being present in the moment and enjoying the surrounding nature. The second section is leaving the present into a more dream-like state while still in the same setting, imagining the lake as a fantasy scene.
Hope you enjoy!
